A heart-led approach to children’s physiotherapy
My Mission
At I Am Me, my mission is to help every child feel capable, included, and full of possibility.
I believe therapy should be fun, confidence-building and meaningful - empowering children to move, play and take part fully in their life.
Through specialist children’s physiotherapy, I help each child explore new possibilities and feel proud of what they can achieve.
How I Am Me was born
I’m Faye Mason-Elias, a Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist with over 15 years’ experience supporting children and families across the NHS and private sectors.
My passion for children’s physiotherapy began early. As a teenager, I volunteered in schools and respite care charities for children with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
Witnessing both the challenges and triumphs of these children shaped my belief that every child deserves to participate, grow, and belong, without barriers limiting their potential.
My NHS Journey
After graduating from the University of the West of England with First-Class Honours in Physiotherapy, I began my career in adult care before specialising in paediatrics in 2009.
Over the next decade, I worked across three NHS trusts in London, developing expertise in both community and acute care.
My years at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children were especially formative. I worked across rheumatology, cardiac intensive care, cystic fibrosis, orthopaedics, oncology and neuromuscular services. Later, as part of the Osteogenesis Imperfecta team, I supported children with rare and complex needs, adapting therapy creatively to help them lead active, fulfilling lives.
My final NHS role, leading the Neuromuscular Physiotherapy Service at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, coincided with a breakthrough moment in paediatric medicine - the introduction of Zolgensma for children with SMA Type 1. Being part of such a transformative era deepened my commitment to delivering evidence-based, evolving care.
The Birth of I Am Me
In 2021, I founded I Am Me to offer truly child-centred physiotherapy - flexible, playful, and tailored to each child’s unique journey. I wanted to create a space free from long waiting lists and rigid systems - where families feel seen, supported, and hopeful.
Since then, I’ve built strong connections with physiotherapists across the UK and internationally, qualified as a DMI (Dynamic Movement Intervention) practitioner and travelled to New York to complete the DMI Level C training.
I also contribute to the development of future physiotherapists as an Occasional Associate Lecturer at the University of the West of England.
My Approach & Philosophy
1
Participation & Inclusion
Every child deserves to take part fully in life.
Therapy focuses on removing barriers and opening doors, physically, socially and emotionally.
2
Collaboration & Holistic Care
I work alongside families, schools, and professionals to build a cohesive, supportive approach that fits naturally into a child’s daily world.
3
Proactive & Innovative
By anticipating needs and using evidence-based, creative techniques like Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI), children can push beyond limits and explore what’s possible.
4
Hope, Opportunity & Empowerment
Therapy is more than a series of appointments - it’s a partnership.
I empower children to build confidence, achieve milestones, and thrive wherever they feel happiest.
At I Am Me, therapy is designed to fit around a child’s life - not the other way around.
Every child is unique, with their own environment, interests, and strengths.
My approach ensures therapy feels natural, playful, and meaningful.
“Faye has worked as a physio for a number of years with a student at our school. Her work ethic and commitment to the young people she works with is second to none. Faye is always willing to go the extra mile to provide support to those she sees, and this includes collaborating with staff too.
Faye is able to give sound advice to support not only students, but also other staff that work with them. She is extremely professional, knowledgeable and personable, always willing to support and offer advice where she can. We would highly recommend Faye and the professional services she offers to those that need it.”

FAQs
-
I don’t work from a fixed list of conditions - every child is unique, and therapy should be tailored to their individual needs and family life.
I have extensive experience across a wide range of paediatric presentations, including developmental delays, neuromuscular conditions, orthopaedic challenges, complex medical needs and rare genetic conditions.
My approach is holistic and flexible - rather than fitting a child into a category, I design a physiotherapy plan around their goals, strengths and environment.
The most important thing is finding the right physiotherapy approach for your child and family.
-
No medical referral is required - families can self-refer directly to I Am Me. This means you can begin therapy without waiting for external approval.
However, collaboration is key. While families can self-refer, I always liaise with any medical professionals already involved in your child’s care. This ensures therapy is safe, coordinated and aligned with your child’s wider health and development goals.

Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) is a hands-on therapy approach that helps children develop new motor skills through specific, guided movements. It stimulates the connection between the brain and body, encouraging new patterns of strength, balance and coordination.
DMI can benefit children with developmental delays, neurological conditions or motor difficulties, but it isn’t limited to particular diagnoses. An approach that will best support your child’s needs and goals.

Every session is tailored to your child. You can expect a mix of guided movement, play-based activities, and hands-on therapy that align with their goals. Sessions are relaxed but purposeful — and I’ll always explain what we’re doing and why.
You’ll also receive strategies and ideas to continue at home, so progress can continue between sessions.
-
Therapy can take place wherever your child feels most comfortable and motivated - at home, in school or nursery, or in community settings such as parks and soft play centres.
I believe therapy should fit naturally into the spaces where children live, learn and play, making progress more meaningful and sustainable.
